With a respectful nod towards the modernist painter Joseph Albers, who spent a lifetime exploring colour interactions, this crochet course will kick start your new relationship with colour and inspire you to be bold and playful with your crochet.
It is an inspirational series of 6 x 3 hours crochet workshops designed to develop your crochet skills, and build your colour confidence, in a friendly and inquisitive environment.
We will be working with Rowan Felted Tweed in 10 beautiful colours to create stunning crochet blankets through an exploration of stitch, colour harmony and composition. Sue has over 20 years experience teaching textiles and design and will guide you through every stage ensuring your blanket is exquisitely designed, and uniquely yours, with attention to detail and a professional finish.
We will look at one, or more, different crochet squares each month, and these will get successively more complex throughout the course allowing you to build on your skills and learn new techniques as you work on your own unique and beautiful crochet blanket.
Throughout the course we will cover a wide range of stitches and techniques which you will be able to apply to future projects with confidence and skill.
Topics covered will include:
The course fee is £350 and this includes 10 balls of Rowan Felted Tweed. You will have a choice of colours so you know that your finished blanket will be utterly gorgeous!
The finished blanket requires 20 balls of yarn in total and you will need to purchase an additional 10 balls to complete the project.
The finished blanket will measure approximately 100 cm x 130 cm.
Each class will be tailored to individual abilities and will be informal, informative and lots of fun. You don’t need to be experienced at crochet but you do need to be able to do the basics (know how to hold the hook and yarn), but you will also be learning ‘on the job’ and will quickly build up your skills. If you need to brush up on the basics or you are a complete beginner, you can book onto the beginners crochet class with Sue on 4 March.
A minimum of 4 students are required for the course to go ahead.
Please bring: 3.75 mm crochet hook
